Landscape Digital Painting

This is something I've been working on for weeks, and I'm finally done. My friend Jake and I were working on a contest together where we had to design a video game. We decided on making a game titled Argile: The Hero of Orendale that is set in a medieval time period.

We each took on different parts of the project and the biggest part for me was I was in charge of drawing the landscape of the game in one big picture. And here it is. I'm pretty proud of it, and I had a blast trying out different techniques and just really being creative with it.

Flash Project Completed!

It's finally finished! I may go back and tweak it, maybe even color it. But for now, I'm gonna leave this in the state that it is as my first Flash animation. I'm really happy with it.

Flash Project Nearing Completion!

The project has to be finished this week and it's so close. I just have one more shot to rough then I have to clean up the rest of them. This is something I did for the project recently.

This one was actually pretty fun to animate.

Flash Project Update 2!

This is actually going at a nice pace! I just need to do a few more shots and touch up some other ones. My confidence in getting this project done next week has skyrocketed!

Anyway, this is one of the things I animated today.

Flash Project Update!

This shot is the one I've been tweaking most recently. It's after the casket opens where Dracula is revealed and floats out towards the camera.

I haven't finished the face in all the frames, but I think the movement gets the point across. I have other shots that are almost done, but they still need some tweaking. I hope to have this finished by next week!

Boredom Begets Weird Stuff.

So, I haven't got any progress on my animated piece that can be posted. It's mostly setting up shots and stuff. So to keep up my Flash quota, I whipped this up in about fifteen minutes.

It's Dracula transforming into fire. This one was mostly done for fun.

Flash Animation!

I'm making a short animation in Flash now. To cement my knowhow of the program, I'm working on a project with it. I've been working for about two hours and this is what I've got so far.

There's definitely more on the way, but this is what I have.
I'll probably post an update every day, so stay tuned!

Teaching Myself Flash! Part 2

Onion skins are God's gift to animators. I played around with the program and finally figured out how to draw on each frame instead of just altering objects.

And after I discovered the onion skins, this got a LOT easier.

So I tried the bouncing ball again to test it out:

Yeah, it's rough and I understand, but I'm actually proud of this one.
I'm gonna play with this a lot more from here on out.

Teaching Myself Flash!

So, as we all know, Flash is an animation program. It's very often used by animators and yet... I've never used it. I've used many other methods of animating (Photoshop, Anime Studio, Paper, My own hands, etc.), but I wanted to take a crack at this one.

I'll admit... One look at it and I was stumped.

So I'll be poking around it and trying to figure it out.
But I'm not completely lost because I managed to make a ball bounce with it!
Yeah, it's not pretty. I know that it bounces on two different planes.
Nevertheless! I will learn this software and I'll post my steps along the way.

Gesture Sketches!

So, I was on lovecastle.org's figure drawing tool and was playing with a little bit of digital gesture drawing. This is what I came up with in twenty minutes:
